The increasing number of Albergues on the Camino Francés

Le Pecten is the magazine of the Amis de Saint Jacques de Compostelle, the French Santiago de Compostela society in Belgium.
They recently published an interesting growth.

The society counted the number of albergues on the Camino Francés in 2008, 2011 and in 2014.

2008   257
2011   325
2014   437

Most of the albergues are private ones, charging about 10 euro a night.
Also, many new albergues appear on the last 200 kilometres: also the distance you have to bike to get a compostela.

Ian Reader

The Religious Studies Project usually publishes a podcast (interview) every week. Last month (feb 2015) they published an extensive interview with Ian Reader.
Expect a discussion on Pilgrimage in the marketplace (2013) and certainly on pilgrimage in the Japanese tradition.

Everywhere on the world can become a sacred place.
Entertainment is always part of pilgrimage, often even playful.
'If a pilgrim is half a tourist, a tourist is half a pilgrim'.
I don't believe in the sacred.
The neurotic girls of Lourdes.
You don't have to travel to visit 'the sacred'.
Why one road survives, and others disappear.
The traditional and the secular.
